Air quality monitoring stations in Copenhagen

Three stations in central Copenhagen, one in the suburb of Hvidovre (separate page)

There are three stations in central Copenhagen.

One pair of stations (street and background) is positioned around Jagtvej/Tagensvej.
The stations are:

  • Jagtvej/1257 (Street)
  • H. C. Ørsted Institutet/1259 (Roof)

A third station is positioned in the city center of Copenhagen close to Rådhuspladsen. The stations is:

  • H.C. Andersens Boulevard/1103 (Street)

The couple around Jagtvej/Tagensvej

  • Jagtvej/1257: Street station (12o33'12" E, 55o41'54" N) See photos

The traffic oriented station (station no. 1257) is in a 20 m wide street canyon between the bicycle lane and the car lanes. There is five storeys residential houses on both sides of the road at the site. The area is mainly residential with minor business. The buildings are 3-5 storeys apartment houses. Around 22,000 motor vehicles per day pass the station.

The roof station (station no. 1259) is on a flat roof on a seven storey building housing institutes and laboratories belonging to the natural science faculty of the University of Copenhagen. The area is open with trees between the university institutes. The distance to the street station (no. 1257) is around 300 m. There are several streets with traffic densities above 5,000 vehicles per day within the nearest few kilometres.

The traffic oriented station (station no. 1103) is on the North-east side of a 6 lane street. On both sides of the main street are parking lots one lane local streets and kerbs. On the North side are 5-6 storeys buildings housing i.a. the municipal administration, while the oposite side is along an amusement park with trees and low buildings. The traffic density is around 70 000 motor vehicles per day.
