Department of Environmental Science and DCE - The National Center for Environment and Energy prepares the Danish atmospheric emission inventories and reports to the international conventions UNECE Convention on Long Range Transboundary Air Pollution (CLRTAP), the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol (KP). The international conventions deal with regional and global air pollution effects and this outline covers the pollutants reported to these conventions. The greenhouse gas emissions are also reported to EUs Monitoring Mechanism (EU MM) because EU - as well as its member states - is a party to the Climate Convention.
Reported pollutants and deadlines for reporting of emission:
The official emission reportings to the UNFCCC, the UNECE and the EU-MM are available at the European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET) Central Data Repository (CDR).
Reportings to the Kyoto Protocol are available at the UNFCCC website.
The documentation reports for the Danish emission inventories to UNFCCC and UNECE are also available in the series of technical reports published by Danish Centre for Environment and Energy (DCE) at Aarhus University.
The Danish emission inventories are updated annually and the latest version, presented on this website, contains the air emission data from 1990 to 2021. The inventories for 2022 will be finished and published on this web page in spring 2024.
The main part of the emissions is estimated by means of activity rates and emission factors. You can find the factors used in the calculation of the emissions here.
You can also read about the reporting sectors and sources of emissions of greenhouse gases and air pollutants.
