Emission from livestock production depends on type of animal and its feed consumption, feed utilization, the housing system and how the excreted animal manure is treated (solid or liquid). The relevant pollutants are; methane (CH₄), nitrous oxide (N₂O), non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC), ammonia (NH₃), nitrogen oxides (NO_X) and particles (PM_2.5, PM₁₀ and TSP).
