Microwine

Marie Curie Training Network, MICROWINE

The Marie Curie Training Network, MICROWINE, will soon kick off with Prof. Lars Hestbjerg Hansen as network coordinator. The network includes 15 academic and industrial collaborators and aims to improve our understanding of the microorganisms involved in winemaking.

All aspects of this €220 billion industry will be studied including plant nutrient uptake, plant pathogen protection and fermentation process, with special emphasis on the microbial communities and functions. These will be studied using high-throughput sequencing of metagenomes and microbial amplicons, powerful bioinformatics, metabolomics and geochemistry.
