Do you want to be a part of "Book a Scientist 2026"?

Book a Scientist takes place from April 20–26, 2026, and is part of Research Days – a nationwide science festival organized by the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science.

Book a Scientist gives researchers the opportunity to share their work with audiences they don’t usually engage with. The lectures inspire, contribute to a more fact-based public debate, and help strengthen trust in science. At the same time, researchers are challenged in their communication skills and gain new perspectives on their research. It’s also great publicity for the research institution and the field.

In 2025, Book a Scientist attracted over 18,000 participants across 508 lectures delivered by 241 researchers.

How to sign up

All researchers are welcome to participate in Book a Scientist. You create a lecture description (approx. 130 words) on the Research Days website, choose where and when you’re available to give the lecture, and upload a photo. Once your lecture is approved by the secretariat, we’ll send you a link where you can check that all details are correct.

Researchers can sign up until January 26.

You decide how much you want to participate

You’re not expected to be available at all hours throughout the week. Even if you only have time one evening during Research Days, we’d still love to have you onboard. You choose exactly which days and times you’re available.

Who can book a scientist?

Anyone can invite you to give your lecture. It might be a schoolteacher, a librarian, or a company that finds your topic particularly interesting. The host provides the venue (or online platform) and ensures there are at least 20 attendees. You coordinate the details directly with the host once we’ve connected you.

You can find more information here.
Researchers can register their lecture directly here.

Researchers also have the opportunity to join an online communication workshop designed to strengthen their outreach skills. This year, the workshop will be held on January 28, 2026, from 15:30–18:00 (in Danish), led by Martin Fehr Therkilsen from the speech school Røst. The workshop focuses especially on communicating with young audiences, but everyone is welcome to join. You can sign up here.
