Research

I am an environmental microbiologist studying atmospheric microorganisms and their impacts on climate, air quality, and health. I lead the Aeromicrobiology Laboratory, combining fieldwork, lab simulations, molecular, and single-cell approaches. My research focuses on the influences of airborne microorganisms on (i) clouds processes with a focus on polar regions; (ii) health and food security aspects related to airborne microbiomes in indoor, and agricultural environments.

Teaching activities

I have over 16 years of teaching experience across undergraduate, and graduate levels. My expertise includes course design, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary education. I have been responsible for multiple courses at AU, including Molecular Microbiology, and Aerobiology Summer School. I have also supervised 25 undergraduate and 22 graduate students, guiding them in experimental design, field work, laboratory experiments and analsyis, data analysis, and scientific communication.
