Transition to a low carbon society based on renewable energy

The long-term EU goal is a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 80-95% in 2050 in relation to 1990.

In Denmark, there is also a broad political consensus of a transition to a low carbon society in 2050, which is resource efficient, based on renewable energy and with low greenhouse gas emissions from other sectors.

SGA for Sustainable Energy and Environment

The overall research goal of the SGA for Sustainable Energy and Environment is to develop the understanding and knowledge required in order to support a transition to renewable energy provision and consumption that minimizes the negative effects on natural resources, environment, climate and human health while being economically feasible and socially acceptable.

The Department of Environmental Science has strong expertise in cross-disciplinary research that supports a transition to a low carbon society based on renewable energy with focus on air pollution, health impacts, welfare economics, sociology and public policy.
