Title: The use of house price (hedonic pricing) analyses as a method in spatial environmental modellin

Abstract: Spatial econometric models based on an utility framework have in recent years emerged as a potential viable approach to spatial planning. The motivation of these models is that; if we understand people’s utility of their surroundings, we will be able to create a planned environment that are better aligned with peoples preferences. The main approach toward the end of this goal have been to conduct revealed preference studies for externalities in the urban environment such as access all types of nature, the exposure to noise and air pollution, access to infrastructure, service diversity and so forth. The last few years there have been a push to expand the model framework. Several papers provide a theoretical setup that allow for a more accurate description of non-marginal changes in the planned environment. I have been part of this development in the literature on spatial econometric models for a almost a decade. I am therefore uniquely positioned to outline where the literature on spatial econometric models have been, where the literature are now and where the literature is likely are go in the near future. I will use my own papers, mainly concerned with the hedonic house price method, to exemplify the progression that I have been vividness to and have participated in. I hope to see you at my presentation on spatial econometric models and their applications
